TMS Therapy Results
NeuroStar TMS Therapy is indicated for the treatment of depression in adults who have failed to achieve improvement from one prior antidepressant medication. In general, it is used for patients who have tried several antidepressant medications for their depression, with one given long enough and at a high enough dose that it should have been effective but is not. NeuroStar TMS Therapy has not been studied in patients with depression who have not tried antidepressant medications.
The results from the NeuroStar clinical trials were positive. In the NeuroStar open-label clinical trial, which is most like real world practice,
- 1 in 2 patients treated with NeuroStar TMS experienced significant improvement in their depression symptoms
- 1 in 3 patients were in remission, or depression-free, at the end of 6 weeks of treatment.
- Patients treated with NeuroStar TMS Therapy also experienced significant improvement in anxiety and physical symptoms that include appetite changes, aches and pains, and lack of energy that are associated with depression.
